My perfect day in Hangzhou In the morning I like to cycle around the rural villages in Hangzhou and explore new areas, after which I would want to enjoy a sumptuous lunch at a farmhouse nearby. At night I would prefer to have some drinks at a bar with my friends, and if I get too tired, a foot massage in Hangzhou would be great to end the day.
My favourite local food Beggar chicken – chicken filled with bamboo shoots and ginseng, wrapped in lotus leaf and baked in a clay. (Try it at Jinsha Chinese Restaurant in Four Seasons Hangzhou!)
The best part of being a Four Seasons concierge is… Wowing the guests whenever I can and treating others like what I would like to be treated whenever I travel to a new destination.
Away from Four Seasons, you'll find me… Enjoying tea at Longjing Tea Village. Dragon Well (longjing) was discovered around 230 AD. The well itself is a mere two meters in diameter, yet for some reason that's all it takes to start a legend. Of all the teas in China, Dragon Well tea is the best. Legend has it that the Emperor Qianlong passed through on an inspection, and after tasting the tea, stamped it as the 'Imperial Tea.' Now, along with Meijiawu, it is one of the best spots to buy tea.
Don't forget to ask me about… Hangzhou's excellent Longjing tea selections.
